Our Purpose
To create art that invites genuine connection; between artist and viewer, emotion and interpretation. Each piece is an expression of lived experience, meant to be felt, reflected on, and made personal.
ABOUT US
Art is an intersection of where we are and what we imagine. My professional perspective was forged in the vibrant art scenes of Dallas, Chicago, Seattle, and Los Angeles, but I find my current inspiration in the expansive beauty of Manhattan, Kansas.
Working primarily in acrylics and pastels on both paper and canvas, my studio practice follows three creative paths:
Animal Portraits: Character-driven pieces that bring joy and personality to your walls.
Nature & Landscapes: "Wild magic" captured in paint—intended to serve as a sanctuary for your living space.
Abstract & Figurative: Introspective works featuring bold compositions and sophisticated movement.
Whether I am painting a whimsical creature or a technical abstract, I aim to create work that feels like a new discovery every time you look at it
Modern Art
I create abstract paintings that explore the intersection of color and shape. My process is deeply tactile, involving layering palette knife textures without limit to media, including acrylic, ink and gel mediums. Some creations are truly abstract while others represent my interest in figurative forms or nature.
My goal is to create work that evokes emotion while stimulating conversation, and offers a new perspective every time it’s viewed. Whether you are a first-time buyer or a seasoned collector, I am here to help you find the perfect piece for your collection.
Critter Art
Like portraiture work, I start with expression, most importantly the eyes. Whether it’s a creature of the sky, land, or sea my goal is to capture expressions we associate with humans, most important of those of joy and whimsy. My process starts by studying my model in their natural habitat if possible, as well as through film, pictures, or Zoo (I am fortunate to have a fantastic zoo mere blocks from my studio). On occasion various “friends” visit me in my studio in a ravine. I never limit the process to using a single medium, but stay open to exploring how others might bring additional characteristics to the piece.
Nature Art
I create whimsical nature paintings meant to slow down and rediscover a sense of childlike wonder. I believe a home should be our sanctuary. My art is intended to bring imagination and “wild magic” into your everyday space.
My palettes are bold and colorful like spring. I love to use soft pastels because of their ability to lay down bold saturated colors through raw pigment, while acrylics offer an endless spectrum through blending hues.
The Studio of Hoodoo: Our Heritage & Vision
I have been painting since I was first able to hold a brush. What began as a lifelong passion transitioned into a professional career when I was commissioned to create custom works for a major residential project. Those initial pieces led to a series of high-profile commissions, including large-scale abstracts, expressive figurative works, and portraits of pets for their celebrity parents.
My artistic perspective was forged in the vibrant galleries and urban energy of Dallas, Chicago, Seattle, and Los Angeles. Today, I bring that diverse experience and high-standard professional background to my studio in the quiet, grounding beauty of the Kansas Flint Hills.
The Collections
Working primarily in acrylics and pastels on both paper and canvas, my work follows three distinct creative paths:
- Whimsical Animals: Soulful portraits designed to bring personality and joy into your space.
- Enchanted Landscapes: "Wild magic" captured in paint, serving as a peaceful sanctuary for the home.
- Modern Abstracts: Bold, technical explorations of form and emotion for sophisticated contemporary interiors.
Museum-Quality Standards
Because I spend much of the year traveling the country to exhibit in galleries, markets, and art fairs, I focus my studio availability on producing high-end, archival reproductions. I offer limited-edition giclee prints produced to the same exacting standards used by global museums for the world’s masterpieces:
- Archival Integrity: We use premium acid-free cotton canvas and museum-quality paper to ensure your artwork remains vibrant and structurally sound for generations.
- Pigment-Based Inks: Each piece is produced using archival-quality inks, capturing the exact depth, color, and texture of the original work.
- Complete Presentation: To ensure a seamless experience, all pieces are offered professionally framed and arrive ready for immediate display in your home or gallery.
